Saturday 27th March
Winchester City 4 Blackfield & Langley 1

As the week gets longer for the City players with their third game Ollie Rastall returned to his usual position in goal following his Thursday night outing on the pitch as Simon Arthur and Mark Blake became the latest City players to be rested. Gary Green and Stewart Lang still suspended, Danny Smith and Matthew Bicknell injured City used all their possible options of their remaining players.

It took City nine minutes to open the scoring. Again Shaun Dyke parading on the left flank collected a pass from Ian Mancey before advancing to slip a ball under the Blackfield goalkeeper Phil Kinally.

Any expected goal onslaught or thoughts of a classy performance did not materialise. City did enough but just enough to take the three points, a three-goal victory margin not showing a true reflection on the game.

Another Shaun Dyke shot went just over the bar on fifteen minutes following a Liam Green cross, then three minutes later Kinally's goal kick fell for Dyke who headed into the path of Green whos dipping shot over the top of the keeper went just over the target.

Lloyd Webber on twenty-seven minutes did excellently to keep the ball in play. He sent a cross into the box where Liam Green thundered a shot goalwards which Kinally saved by instinct having to receive treatment from the physio before being able to continue such was the force behind the strike. On the half-hour Steve Tate saw a header from a Mancey cross-cleared off the line by Ben Hillman.

With Blackfield growing in confidence a long-range effort from skipper Danny Neville was saved by Ollie Rastall but the interval was reached with Coty a goal to the good.

Tate calmed a few nerves within eight minutes of the restart firing home his third goal in three games. Blackfield fighting to stave off the threat of relegation got themselves right back into the game on fifty seven minutes Steve Wheatland heading hoe at the far post from an Andy MacIssac corner. Blackfield showed their impressions by quickly retrieving the ball and returning it to the half way line in their attempt to get the game restated quickly.

For a while Blackfield threatened for an equaliser but Rastall was not seriously troubled. Bit City did not make the game safe until the final five minutes. First Mancey saw a header from Dykes cross saved by Kinally. Then with three minutes remaining, Dykes cross saw Andrew Forbes head the ball back across goal and Kevin Brewster shot home to ensure victory.

Webber shot just wide of the target before City added a fourth in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Liam Greens corner from the left saw Toby Redwood arriving to head the ball with the help of a deflection over the top of Kinally into the net for his second goal for City. With Wimborne Town and Gosport Borough both being held to 1-1 draws all in all a good afternoon for City.
