Winchester Girls Tournament - Sunday 7 September 08
22 girls teams battled it out for the U13 and U15 WInchester tournament. The weather held off and a great time was had by all.
In the U15 tournament the final was contested between Gosport Vixens and Hedge End, with the later edging out as 1-0 winners. In the shield Winchester's A team just squeezed past St Francis after penalties.
The U13 teams had 13 entrants, and the winner for travelling the furthest went to Gurnsey girls, and congratulations to them on winner the shield. A tence affair and after extra time it went to pentalities and it took the Gurnsey goal keeper to score to win the day. In the cup final it was Winchester against St Francis, so many times in the season they have played each other, with games going either way. This final was no different, with Winchester edging it 1-0.
End of the days parents and girls were tired and weary, but happy to have competed in some fun football.
