Winchester U12A reports
15 Nov: Winchester vs St Francis (0-2)
It was a game which the opposition goal keeper won the game for St Francis. Lots of Winchester chances, but none of them counted. Player of the match voted by St Francis was Lydia, for her play across the pitch including defence!
08 Nov: Winchester vs Gosport Boro Yth (4-1)
With the match starting in driving weather it was great to see so much positive play from both teams. It was a half of great drama with Gosport hitting the post/bar 4 times and 2 great saves from Sophie. But it was Winchester that went in to half time one nil up thanks to Heleena. A good half time talk from the manager, and Winchester went out with new vigor and shape, and the sun came out!! From then on it was mainly Winchester, with a hat-trick from Chloe. Player of the match as voted by Gosport was Sophie, for the fine saves and playing so well as an out player in the 2nd half.
18 Oct: Andover vs WInchester (1-3)
A robust performance from Winchester with minor tactical changes leading to good posession, and Winchester went into half time 1-0 up thanks to Lydia. Second half and Chloe showed her scoring abilities with 2 goals including a penality. Andover voted for Sophie as player match.
11 Oct: Winchester vs Southampton (0-3)
This was a great match to watch, both teams played some excellent football. Southampton having scored over 25 goals in the last 3 matches where looking to pile on the goals. Winchester played some of their best football and at half time the score was 0-0. The first goal was obviously going to make a huge difference and settle the game. Eventually Southampton squeezed one into the Winchester net, and after some very tired legs the score end 0-3.  All Winchester players were stars, but Southampton singled out Hannah as girl of the match.
4 Oct: Denmead vs Winchester (2-4)
Away match to Denmead the girls took a while getting use to the compact pitch, before opening the score with a goal from Heleena. Falling a sleep Winchester let Denmead equalise. From then on - it was all Winchester, with Lydia, Sophie and Chloe all scoring. End score was 4-2 to Winchester. Our player of the match as voted by Denemad was Lydia, but the whole team played well.
27 Sep: St Francis vs Winchester (0-1)
The U12's took a full squad to the Garrison ground to play St Francis in the 1st game of the season. A nervous start saw both teams make mistakes, but Winchester soon started to move the ball around the pitch (all that Weds training kicked in). For the first twenty minutes neither goal keeper had a lot activity, though Winchester had most of the play. On the 20th minute the deadlock was broken, a side splitting pass by Lydia placed the ball to Heleena alone in the box with only the keeper to beat - One Nil to Winchester. That was to be the only goal of the match, with Sophie in goal with little to do. Our player of the match voted by St Francis was Chloe, what a great start for her 1st league match for Winchester City.
