With kick-off delayed almost half an hour the match finally started at 7.30. Maybe the lights should have already been on Matt? as within the first thirty seconds the visitors had taken the lead capitalizing on a miss weighted back pass to the goal keeper. But, neither Matt nor the rest of the team allowed this early set-back to stand in the way of their main goal and Winchester set about matching Aldershot in every position on the park, coming close to an equalizer more than once, and playing extremely professional football.

At 1 - 1the game became a tense affair with Winchester pressing at every opportunity. Aldershot resorted to playing the long ball, missing out the midfield, where they were being overrun and hoping the increased pressure on the back three would lead to a mistake. In the end it paid off as
Despite their bests efforts to retrieve the draw the final whistle came too soon and the lights went out on a great game of football.
