Tonights game saw Zak, David, Tom and Carl S on the bench and starts for Ben S and Jamie B with Steve playing wide right. Both Winchester and Totton started with a flurish but a free kick for a high foot puts pressure on Winchester and is headed out for a corner. Mitch heads the corner clear but Steve looses the ball and Danny K is forced into a fantastic last ditch tackle to clear the danger. More Totton pressure down both the right and left wings brings out the best defending in Karl and Mitch and again Danny K is outstanding.
Slowly Winchester grow into the game. A fantastic one two betweeen Jack and Jamie sets Jack free but his shot is deflected wide. Good prolonged Winchester pressure keeps Totton in their own half but they can't break through and the danger is always present as Totton break quickly through the midfield and slide the ball between Mitch and Karl only to blast the shot high over the bar.
With half time fast approaching Ben S and Jamie work hard to close down the space and the ball runs free to Jack and he finds Ace on the edge of the box but his shot goes high and wide and the sides go in 0 - 0.
Winchester start the second half fast and within a couple of minutes go 1 - 0 up when Jack and Jamie combine well again and Jack beats the keeper to the ball and tucks it into the corner under the despairing dives of two Totton defenders.
Totton press forward and Sam punches a corner away only to see it come straight back and have to touch it over for another corner. More good defending keeps out a Totton free kick and another corner before Jack limps off to be replaced by David and Winchester revert to a 4 - 5 - 1 formation. Despite the numbers Totton start to overrun the Winchester Midfield in their search for an equaliser.
Danny K makes another decisive interception and Mitch another great headed clearance but Totton finally break through only to blast over the bar from 6 yards out. A quick kick from Sam finds David who makes a long maizey run to the edge of the Totton box and wins a foul and Steve smashes his free kick against the bar.
With time running out Totton press again and Ty makes a great clearance before a long shot hits the post and goes wide. Then deep into injury time Totton attack down the right and whip in a cross that's knocked in at the near post to make it 1 - 1.
A draw was probably the right result on the day and good to see that Webby can still get himself sent off even when he's not playing!!!.
