"You can't park 'ere mate. Down there, gravel track, middle of a field, 10 minute walk back to the changing room - that's where you need to be! Yeah, over there between the trees, where the pitch slopes at 30 degrees!"
Helpful and friendly!
After all that the Winchester Team had to perform, Stoneham had to go down!!!!!!!!!!!
Within minutes Ben had galloped through the middle and hit the post and Zak had crashed a thunderbolt against the crossbar. It was all Winchester. A great through ball from Mitch, more tricky skills from Zak in the Stoneham box and Dan fires just wide. When is the first goal going to arrive? Then with just 10 minutes gone Zak over stretches and that's the end of his game, Steve comes on and immediately has impact releasing Ben down the left. He cuts in and sends a curling shot (or was that a cross Ben!) into the far corner. Fantastic.
Winchester continue to pressure but with half time fast approaching Stoneham get a corner. Matt and Karl jump, Webby crashes in and Matt is left in a heap, concused and clutching his arm. That's another injury then! I think the Team needed the half time whistle but they'd forgotten about Andy!! Let's put it this way - at the end of half time no one was left unsure of their role, responsibility or the consequences if they didn't get out there and perform.
The second half saw a totally different performance. Danny whipped in another corner this time finding the net via a defenders head, David drives down the right finds Josh who slides the ball into the box. Jack steps over and Jamie slots the ball home. Winchester are finally flying and Dan wraps things up with a thumping half volley. 4 - 0 that's more like it but it'll take more than this to get back into Andy's good books!
Next Game - Whitecroft and Barton at Home.
