Sorry for the delay - the carrier pidgeon got lost over the solent and the water made it hard to read the notes!!
It took a long tiring journey by car and ferry, an hour warming up and 45 minutes on the pitch before Winchester finally turned up to today's match! Playing Ben S at the back and Danny K in midfield wasn't the best decision of the day either and they swapped back to their normal roles within about 15 minutes of the kick off.
Whitecroft and Barton couldn't believe their luck dominating most of the first half and bringing a number of fine saves out of Winchester keeper Sam. With Winchester still struggling David made way for Jamie B and Winchester finally took the initiative and took the lead through Jack to go in at half time 1 - 0 up.
Winchester started the second half far more fired up and positive and slowly started to take control of the game. Another Goal by Jack put Winchester 2 - 0 up before Winchester decided to give all four of the youngesters a run together. Ace made way for Carl S and Ty came off for Tom. Almost immediately the changes had an effect with Ben S hitting the bar with a great header.
Winchester were starting to show the type of form that has helped them reach this years Cup Final and Jack rounded off another great move to secure a well deserved hat trick. With time running down the Winchester youngsters came up with the move of the game. Sam rolled out to Tom on the right side, he found Jamie B on the half way line and a quick one two with Carl opened up space for Jamie B to chip a delightful pass into the path of Ben S who cracked the ball into the corner of the net for 4 - 0. One end to the other, 4 players, 4 passes, Goal - that's how to do it!!!
Final score 4 - 0 and a long but "happy" trip home. God knows what it would have been like stuck on the ferry with Andy and Jon if the second half had been as bad as the first!!!
