Winchester City 2 - 1 Bemerton

The weather was fine and the boys were yet again ready for the challenge.  Without some of the players that had been influential in the opening match there were opportunities for other squad members to shine as they stepped out into the sunday morning sunshine.

Their Opposition today was rated to be one of the top teams in Hampshire, and they soon proved their worth giving as good as they got, and not long into the game the visitors took the lead winning the ball in the air from a Winchester City goal kick, braking from midfield past the recovering Winchester defense and slotting it past the Keeper.

It took well into the second half for Winchester City to pull level, with a well worked goal that was played from defence to midfield and finished off with a fantastic through ball that sliced through the defence, allowing the Jack to crack in his second goal in two games.

Barely ten minutes later Winchester City had taken the lead when Josh was through on goal once again, thanks to a pass down the wing from the left back.  He rounded that last defender and slotted it calmly under the advancing goal keeper in to the back of the net. Now all the team had to do was stay focused for the remainder of the match, during which both teams were presented with several opportunities to score.

When the final whistle sounded Winchester City where delighted at their overall performance, and glad to have won such a competitive and close match. The players went home in high spirits looking forward with optimism to Wednesday night’s fixture.
