The management team were desperate to ensure that today's home game went ahead and with the groundsmen at Denplan, Chilcomb and Knightwood all declaring their pitches unfit they were left with forth choice fleming park and a very narrow, very short pitch as the only option.  

Another 10.00 kick off. Another early start with Winchester quick off the mark but then relaxing so much they were almost asleep at times in the first half. Within 2 minutes of the kick off Steve played a majestic through ball, slicing open the Salisbury defence forcing the keeper into a mistake and allowing Ben U to tap in to an open net. A minute later a long shot from Jack is pushed for a corner and Zak's cross is headed just over the bar by Ben U. Then it all went wrong!

There was no fight in central midfield and no confidence or decision making at the back and Salisbury were soon back level when a long kick from their keeper was allowed to bounce over the defence and their striker lobbed the advancing keeper for 1 - 1. With Sam deputising for John in goal a defence that has looked unbeatable all season was suddenly looking very ordinary and despite Winchester playing some good football at times every time Salisbury attacked they looked as if they could score! So when Sam failed to collect a curling ball in from the right it was no real suprise that the ball fell straight at an attackers feet and was tapped into an empty net.

Despite a fantastic 35 yard shot from Ty that forced the Salisbury keeper into a great save and a great shot from Danny L that Jack should have put away Winchester still went in 2 -1 down at half time.

Jack and Karl off (Karl injured) and Jamie and Danny K on at the start of the second half and from the kick off you could see a difference in the team. Zak finds Ben U who slides it on to David and his shot is saved, Ty heads over from the corner. Better pressure. David hits a fantastic cross field ball to Zak he cuts back and curls a wicked shot from outside the box into the far top corner 2 - 2 and Winchester are back in the game.     

Crunching tackles in midfield by Danny L and Zak realease Ben U and his pass is blasted just over the bar by Jamie. It was all Winchester. Ben F hits a long cross into the box and the defender heads against his own bar and Zak just misses from the resulting corner. Finally Winchester get their reward when from another corner Mitch tucks in his first goal of the season.

Jamie was ripping the Salisbury defence apart everytime he got the ball and further chances fell to Danny L, Mitch and Zak but Winchester couldn't extend their lead. Then a shock - a huge throw evaded everyone including the keeper and went into the net, luckily "no touch - no goal"! a real let off!

With 15 minutes left John was on for Sam and Jack back on for David. John immediately shows his bravery diving at the feet of an on rushing attacker and his ability diving full stretch to tip a shot past the post. Zak rises to head clear the resulting corner as Salisbury press for an equalizer but its Winchester that finish on top. Danny K finds Zak down the left and his cross is crashed just over by Danny L and there's still time for Jamie and Zak to go close again before the final whistle.
