After two fantastic pre season clashes
Despite an endless wait we had to stay professional the team soon took an early lead through Josh, who ran past the defender to score a clean goal at the near post. The lead was increased just after the middle of first half, as Matt Betts thunderous shot benefited from a deflection and hit the back of the net before the Goalkeeper could move. The Winchester Boys remained unnerved when Pirelli pulled a goal back shortly after, and managed to regain their two goal advantage when the ball was passed into the centre of the pitch from the right-wing for Zak to convert calmly and gracefully with a chip that flew over the advancing keeper's head and into the net.
By half time Winchester were four goals ahead, Jamie having scored a goal after running through and slotting the ball past the advancing goalkeeper into the bottom corner of the goal, and then through Jack barely five minutes later, with a superb shot from just inside the attacking half. That's 4 in 4 now Jack!!
It's hard to keep your head when all around are loosing their's!
The second half was awful. Pirelli had completely lost the plot and a combination of wholesale substitutions and players playing out of position meant that Winchester struggled to show any style or commitment and the game degenerated into a kick about. Pirelli did manage to get and convert a penalty and managed to score again at both ends!
A disappointing end to an excellent pre season. Overall the squad has gelled well. We have an excellent very talented group of players many of whom can play in a variety of positions now we have to prove ourselves in the cup and league.
