Christmas arrived early at the Denplan Ground with both teams in this match generously giving the ball to each other so that we got lots of goals.
The first goal for Winchester arrived after Zak playing on the left wing decided not to let the ball go out for a Moneyfields throw and although the ball was still at the feet of the Moneyfields defender his pass back to the keeper was intercepted by The Stig who chipped the ball over the keeper and into the net.
The only booking of an otherwise friendly match arrived a few minutes later when Zak was fouled on the edge of the box by the Moneyfields captain - it was always going to be a booking as the whole ground could see the foul coming a mile off.
Shortly afterwards Moneyfields were level following a corner that was headed in.
Winchester went 2 - 1 up when Tom decided to use the same chip on the keeper following a pass from Zak.
We didn't have to wait long for the score to be level again as Moneyfields slid the ball under an advancing Chris but this time Winchester were back in front almost immediately as the ball was passed into the middle from Scott on the right wing and The Stig got his foot to the ball first between 2 defenders.
Unfortunately Winchester could not hold onto their lead until half time as a good save from Chris rebounded off a player straight back into the net.
HALF TIME 3 - 3.
The first five minutes of the second half are best forgotten about. I was still making my way back out to the side to the pitch and so missed the action which all took place at the far end of the pitch and resulted in 3 goals being scored against Winchester.
To their credit Winchester did not give up and scored themselves shortly afterwards when Scott nicely put the ball past the advancing keeper.
Winchester were then forced into 2 changes. Lavs having to drop out of central defence to be replaced by Ben, dropping back from midfield, to join Karl and Ash and Dean being replaced at leftback by Pete. Josh came on to replace Ben in central midfield next to Luke but then swapped out to the leftwing.
By now the passing of both teams had improved from the first half but unfortunately it was not Winchester who benefited instead Moneyfields managed to get another couple of goals to leave the final score at 4 - 8.
It might not have been the scoreline we wanted but with all those goals to watch it was pretty entertaining.
